2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that a website stores on your browser or device.

4. Cookies currently used by DateNight
The following first-party cookies are currently used on the main DateNight website.

The __session and gv_access cookies are HTTP-only security/access cookies and are not used for advertising.
The analytics cookies anonymous_id and session_id are used for website analytics and are not marketing cookies.
Where their configuration requires consent under applicable law, they will only be used after the required choice has been obtained.
5. Analytics
DateNight may collect analytics in order to understand how the website and its features are used and to improve them.
Analytics may include information about visits, sessions, pages viewed and interactions with website functionality.
Some forms of statistical analytics can qualify for an exception from the normal cookie-consent requirement where they are used solely to create appropriate aggregate statistical information for improving the service and all conditions of that exception are met.
Other forms of analytics, including technologies used to identify or track individual visitors, build profiles, link activity over time or connect website activity with advertising, may require consent.
Where consent is required, DateNight will not use those analytics technologies until that consent has been obtained.
6. Authentication and Game Vault access
DateNight uses cookies where necessary to provide requested access-controlled functionality.
For example, a cookie may be used after you:
- unlock a restricted area of the website;
- verify access;
- follow a valid Game Vault access link; or
- otherwise request functionality that needs the website to recognise your authorised browser session.
These cookies are used to maintain the access you requested and to help protect DateNight functionality against unauthorised use.
They are not used for advertising.
7. Third-party services
DateNight uses or may use third-party services to provide parts of the website and related functionality.
A third-party service may itself use cookies or other storage and access technologies.
Firebase and Google services
DateNight may use Firebase and related Google technology for functionality including authentication, application security, App Check and reCAPTCHA.
Depending on the particular service and browser, these technologies may use cookies, local storage, IndexedDB or other device-based technologies.
Where the relevant technology is necessary to provide requested authentication or security functionality, it may operate without consent where permitted by law.
Where a technology is used for another purpose that requires consent, it will be subject to the relevant cookie choice.
Stripe
DateNight uses Stripe to provide payment and checkout functionality.
When you interact with Stripe or a Stripe-hosted payment service, Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies for purposes including:
- providing payment functionality;
- maintaining checkout sessions;
- security;
- fraud detection; and
- complying with its own legal obligations.
Some of that processing is carried out by Stripe under its own privacy and cookie arrangements.
Other providers
We may introduce additional third-party providers in future, including providers of:
- analytics;
- website performance monitoring;
- fraud prevention;
- security;
- embedded media;
- customer functionality;
- social media integrations;
- advertising;
- marketing measurement; or
- other online services.
Introducing a third-party provider does not itself allow DateNight or that provider to place non-essential cookies without complying with applicable cookie and privacy law.
Where a new service uses cookies or similar technologies, we will assess its purpose and update the relevant cookie information.
Where consent is required, the service will not be permitted to use the relevant technology until the required consent has been obtained.
8. Embedded content and external services
Some pages may in future contain content provided by another organisation, such as:

- social-media content;
- interactive tools; or

Those providers may wish to use their own storage or access technologies.
Where those technologies are not exempt from the consent requirement, they will not be activated until the appropriate consent has been obtained.

Blocking all cookies may affect the operation of DateNight.
For example, you may be unable to remain authenticated, access the Game Vault correctly, complete certain online functionality or retain settings.
Browser controls are separate from any choices provided through DateNight's own cookie controls.
11. Local storage and other browser storage
Some DateNight or third-party functionality may use browser storage technologies rather than traditional cookies.
For example, authentication, application-security or functional information may be stored through technologies such as local storage or IndexedDB.
Where the relevant technology stores information on, or accesses information from, your device, we treat it in accordance with the applicable storage and access rules even if it is not technically a cookie.
12. Supplier portal
The DateNight supplier portal may use storage technologies necessary to provide and secure portal functionality and may use functional storage relating to portal preferences.
Where the supplier portal provides a separate cookie or storage notice, that notice should be read together with this Policy in relation to use of the portal.
The supplier portal is not currently used for advertising or behavioural tracking.
13. Personal information collected through cookies
Information obtained through cookies may constitute personal information, particularly where it can be linked with:
- an identifier;
- an IP address;
- an authenticated user;
- a Game Vault user;
- an order;
- website activity; or
- other information held by DateNight.
Where cookie information is personal information, our processing of that information is also governed by the DateNight Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.
14. Changes to the cookies we use
The technologies used by DateNight may change as the website develops.
For example, we may:
- replace a service provider;
- introduce additional website functionality;

- introduce advertising or marketing technology.
